It is more than a week since Ghana went to the polls to elect a President and 275 Members of Parliament who will govern this country for the next four years.
Although the Electoral Commission headed by Mrs. Jean Adukwei Mensah has declared President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo President Elect, the controversy surrounding the conduct of the elections is far from over.
The New Patriotic Party,NPP and National Democratic Congress,NDC are still in confusion as to who has won majority in Parliament. The NDC claims that they have won 140 seats in Parliament which is a clear majority in Parliament whilst the NPP also claims that they have majority in Parliament with 138 seats.
The Electoral Commission of Ghana has by a Press Statement settled this debate. According to the Commission, the NPP has 137 seats, NDC has 136 seats and 1 Independent candidate. The commission claims that the Sene West Parliamentary seat is yet to be concluded.
