Today on spotlight, we take a look at an amazing tourist attraction in Hohoe, in the Volta Region- Wli Water Falls.
Wli Water Falls is known to be the highest water falls in West Africa. It is situated in the heart of Hohoe in the Volta Region, the home of the Ewe culture.
Locally known as “Agoomatsa” which means “Allow Me to Flow”, the falls is approximately 280 kilometers from Accra and 20 kilometers from Hohoe.
Taking a walk through the forest of the Agoomatsa Wildlife Sanctuary gives one the chance to see birds, butterflies, monkeys, baboons and large colony of bats.
The Wli Falls comes in two sections- the upper and lower falls, with the upper falls measuring about 143 meters to the plunge pool below it.
It lasts about one and half to two hours to reach the upper part of the falls, through a tiring mountain-climbing exercise.
The lower part which is the proper falls, on the other hand could be reached by trekking through the forest in about 40 to 45 minutes.
