Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, the Minister of Education has finally added his voice to news on the payment of Professional Teachers Allowance which is reported to be paid by the end of August 2020.
Speaking On Kumasi-based Wontumi FM on their weekend edition of their of ‘State of Affairs’, Hon. Matthew Opoku Prempeh affirmed that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the Akufo-Addo led government remains the first government under the 4th Republic to institute an allowance package for teachers in this form.
He further added that the Ministry of Education is making plans to introduce more policies that will spice the pen and chalk fraternity.
According the Minister, government in consultation with the Ghana Education Service (GES) in a memorandum of understanding agreed to pay an amount of GH¢1,200 to every teaching staff on the Ghana Education Service (GES) payroll, but he has no information as at now in relation to the circulated news.
He therefore stressed that teachers across Ghana should for the time been discard such information that has since went viral.
