Ghana is almost ready and gearing herself up for yet another Presidential and Parliamentary elections. This years election is scheduled to take place on 7th December, 2020 across all the nooks and crannies of all the sixteen Regions of the Republic of Ghana.
Sine the inception of the fourth republic this would be Ghana’s 8th successive election whereby the citizens of the country have had the unsavory and precious right to be able to vote and elect the people or leaders they want to be in the helm of affairs of the country. The New Patriotic Party and the National Democratic Congress have been the only parties to dominate in the Parliamentary elections of Ghana and both have won the Presidency with the NDC winning four and NPP with three.
President John Dramani Mahama has been the only President since the fourth Republic to have lost his seat as an incumbent President and he also makes history as the only opposition leader contesting as a Presidential election as a former President. This dimension makes the 2016 Presidential elections extremely interesting, isn’t it?
Succinctly speaking, President John Mahama lost the elections on two main counts or factor, these are the Erratic Power Supply(DUMSOR DUMSOR) that bedeviled the good citizens of this country for almost three years and corruption which he and his communicators failed woefully to defend.
His contender in the last elections and the current President of the Republic of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo was also branded as a man of incorruptible virtues and character who was running for President not to come and create , loot and share as the Supreme court of Ghana described some elements of the NDC. He was seen as a 70 year old man who was coming to salvage the country from going into a ditch or an abyss.
With Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo being the President of Ghana today, and Ghanaians seeing what he has also done as a President, mediaghananews.com is asking our avid and cherished readers that is President John Dramani Mahama a better alternative to the current President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo all things being equal?
